Diaper Depot

Diaper Depot Logo

In October 2011, the CAC VISTA coordinator launched Mendocino Diaper Depot (MDD). Currently, MDD helps supply diapers exclusively as an incentive for parents to attend evidence-based parenting classes through Raise & Shine program. Not only is the MDD increasing parenting by educating families, but it is also helping to prevent child neglect and abuse, as children who are sitting in a dirty diaper all day are exposed to dangerous germs and families who are not able to meet basic needs are at a greater risk for stress.

Redwood Children’s Services (RCS) is the CAC fiscal agent. RCS is a 501(c) 3 with 10 years of experience implementing numerous grant programs. Although connected to a mandated collaborative (the PCCY), the CAC has grassroots representation that is strong, committed, and broad-based. Representation includes parent advocates as well as representatives from: the Mendocino County Departments of Public Health, Social Services, and Mental Health; Mendocino County Office of Education; Redwood Valley Rancheria; Head Start; Court Appointed Special Advocates; First 5 Mendocino; Mendocino County Youth Project; and Redwood Children’s Services. CAC members are from strong and credible agencies and organizations.
